La Rampila, Valletta, Malta

La Rampila is a Mediterranean restaurant mere meters from the entrance to Valletta in Malta. You first see it as you cross the bridge from the Triton Fountain to Valletta’s parliament plaza. Embedded into the walls of Fortress Valletta it’s not obvious how to get there. But once you do, always ask for the terrace. You’ll see the sky and the bridge over the Valletta ditch.

Of course, the service is amazing but the highlight is the food. Last night I had a starter of perfectly grilled octopus, followed by a lamb rump and finished with tiramisu. My wife had sea-bass she said was perfect and my friend had a Tagliata steak. Again, amazing.

It’s our fourth time there. We’ve never had a bad meal.
